Re.Use.Full to the Rescue!

Re.Use.Full was born after taking repeated requests from friends looking for a new home for their gently used household items, clothes and computer equipment. They wanted to help a worthy organization but didn’t know who could put their items to good use. Having experienced firsthand the challenges nonprofit organizations face to stretch their funding and do more with less, Leslie Scott founded Re.Use.Full and embarked on creating a platform that takes “reduce, reuse, recycle” to a whole new level.

Like Tinder, we match donors with organization. But also like Tinder, we don’t make the dinner reservation! So once you find the best organization for you, reach out to them and connect!

Our Values, Mission and Vision

Re.Use.Full is committed to innovation, sustainability, community, knowledge, and justice. These values guide our mission to encourage simple, sustainable living in local communities by connecting donors with gently used items to the people, pets, and nonprofits that need them.

Giving used clothing and household goods a second life can benefit charities—providing much-needed funding—while limiting the impact of clothing and textiles on the environment and, over time, reducing the demand for new products to ultimately save precious natural resources.

In doing so, Re.Use.Full’s vision is to end resource inequality and waste as an empowered and informed society.

Meet Our Amazing Team!

Leslie Scott is the founder of Re.Use.Full, the flagship project of Do More Good, a social enterprise founded in 2017 that creates capacity-building technology solutions for nonprofit organizations. She draws on her work and volunteer experience in nonprofit management, workforce development, technology and education to view problems from a systems perspective with a focus on intersectionality. Leslie serves on the core team for Code for KC, where volunteers on the Re.Use.Full project team have been instrumental in the development of the site. She is the author of Forever and Ever, a forthcoming children’s book about foster kids and foster dogs, and in her free time, enjoys serving on several nonprofit boards, hanging with her four dogs, discovering ways to upcycle their many empty dog food cans and beautifying her yard.

Advisory Board Members

Blake Bradford is a software developer and visual designer from Kansas City, Kansas. Having graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 2017, he is passionate about using technology to enrich others’ lives. He has volunteered as a web developer and advisory board member with Re.Use.Full since the summer of 2020 and loves working to promote greater sustainability in his community. In his free time, he is an avid musician, gardener, and fitness fanatic.

Billie Hufford is a community planner and a long-time advocate for the environment and sustainable programs to reduce waste. Billie’s free time is consumed with gardening, home renovation, and her awesome dogs.

Melanie Kelley is a strategy consultant and MBA graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. She is passionate about sustainability in business and enjoys working with companies to enhance their operations while also reducing the negative impact on environmental landscapes and communities.

Jess Phillips is an entrepreneur who has been making a worldwide impact for the last 20 years. As co-founder and CEO, she has been a driving force in the creation of Hyprcubd, which has allowed companies to scale up and compete in the global marketplace. Jess is also the CEO and founder of AllianceNow, a start-up focused on strengthening community bonds in order to protect our most valuable resource: our children. Jess is a proud mom of three, former psychotherapist, writer, IoT inventor and a Sensei in mixed martial arts. Jess strives to connect humanity and technology through her work, mentorship, and ongoing partnerships. Hyprcubd and AllianceNow are proud sponsors of Re.Use.Full.

Dr. Erica Stone has been working with Re.Use.Full since 2017 as a volunteer and Advisory Board member. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in professional and technical writing and serves as the Associate Director of General Education English at Middle Tennessee State University. As a teacher-scholar, she works at the intersection of technical communication, public rhetoric, and community organizing. As a member of the Re.Use.Full Advisory Board, Erica provides expertise in community engagement and technical communication.

Darron Story is a man of myriad talents. Many people know him as a radio personality on 107-3 KC’s R&B and Hip Hop, talk show host, singer, entertainer and speaker who you can hear on air and online and see performing on stage as a member of Lo-Key?, a chart-topping R & B group with its roots in KC, emceeing charity events and giving inspiring talks to a variety of audiences. What they may not know is he is also a seasoned professional with many years of nonprofit experience in fundraising, program development and management. When not working, he enjoys spending his very limited freetime with his family and is very involved with his church, recently completing his certificate to be a Commissioned Ruling Elder of the Presbyterian Church.

Bekah Swank helps amplify the work of community-based groups through authentic supporter engagement and powerful visual-linguistic storytelling. During her time on Earth, she has participated in marketing, design, and fundraising work for a variety of orgs that empower and connect people for a better world; led volunteer groups and summer programs; written for community media; and helped people of all ages become better readers, thinkers, and learners. Bekah is thankful to be part of Re.Use.Full’s work because we get to help connect people with a simple, symbiotic solution to a complex and daunting problem.

Dr. Antonio Byrd has volunteered as Re.Use.Full’s content writer since August 2019 and has served on the Advisory Board since 2020. He is an assistant professor of English at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. At UMKC, Dr. Byrd teaches undergraduate courses in professional and technical communication, Black literacies, digital literacy, and digital rhetoric. His research focuses on how Black adults access and learn computer programming amidst racial inequality.

When not teaching, Dr. Byrd enjoys happy hours, cooking meals with friends, watching anime, and strength training with a light run after.

Project Team Volunteers

Nick Phillips is an accomplished entrepreneur and industry leader with more than 20 years in the technology space. Nick is the co-founder of Hyprcubd and proud sponsor of Re.Use.Full. Prior to founding Hyprcubd, Nick pioneered new methods for real-time data transfer, analysis, and storage in military equipment and systems with Raytheon, and in aircraft systems with Airbus. Nick recently worked as a backend engineer for Vivid Cortex, a US-based database monitoring company with cloud-first open source databases, including MongoDB, Redis, PostgreSQL, and MySQL. Nick is a proud father, volleyball player, volunteer, and dedicates his free time to coding his passion projects.

Bryan Richlinski is a full-time student at UMKC working toward a Computer Science Degree. He loves sustainability and is passionate about environmentalism. He is working with our marketing team to create social media content.

While Charlie has only been in tech for just over a year, for them, learning has been a lifelong passion. From cyber security to product ownership to software engineering, they leave no stone unturned when it comes to tech (except sales, Charlie is not ideal at sales.)

When they aren’t working in tech, some of Charlie’s passions include dogs, LaunchCode classwork and all things dev, and expanding their network of those that are in ethical tech!
